For everyone who lives in Flyover country!

I think I first heard the phrase "flyover country" during the 2000 Presidential election but I am sure it has been around longer than that. When I first moved to Winchester in West Central Illinois in 1976 the area was referred to as Forgotonia because the people in the region had a long standing complaint that this part of the state was essentially ignored by the rest of the state. So having the place you live and work and raise your kids associated with some sort of "lost land" is not new here. My guess is a lot of rural regions carry the same burden of being left out of the mainstream.

Flyover Country encompasses a much larger area that theoreticaly would go from Boston to Los Angeles or something like that. It is no secret that people on both coasts look askance at the inhabitants of this large amorphous area that takes up nearly all of the US map. Probably from 25,000 feet it looks like nothing is really down here. So, fine, I am perfectally willing to let anyone who is inclined to believe such, continue to do so.

The folks in Flyoverfolks.com are all those souls who live work and play in Flyover country. I started this website for all those folks to express their opinions, ideas, and interests. It is free to use the website. We put advertising on the web site in the hope of maybe raising a little money to some day pay for creating and running the site. The domain Flyoverfolks.com is owned by Winco, Inc. in Winchester, Il. Winco has been an ISP for 11 years and was the first to provide local dial-up internet access in several communities in the area. For the past four years we have been providing high speed wireless internet access to rural areas and small communities in the area.
