Do You Have Coyote Hunters to Protect You

Every Sunday these guys are out running all over the countryside. I know some of them and others I do not know. It is kind of funny in a way because I hardly see them get out of their trucks. They cruise around and park and talk on the radio and then cruise to some other strategic position and talk some more. I guess they do get out once in a while to take a shot at something.
Some years ago, my father-in-law and I came upon some coyote hunters that were stopped along the road. They had just shot a coyote and had it in the truck. There was only one guy with a gun, or at least, who had his gun out. He had done the shooting. He seemed to me to kind of be regarded as the marksman whose job it was to shoot the beast when it was finally exposed. It was an odd scene. All these guys were quite serious about their annointed task.
I am reminded of the old cowboy movies where the gang runs rampant over the surrounding countryside and the helpless residents can only get out of their way. There is an arrogance about these people that is almost comical. They seem to think they can go anywhere and run all over armed to the teeth with weapons and technology in some mystical quest to rid us of this pest, the coyote. The funny thing is, on just about any evening after the sun has gone down, we hear numerous coyotes out in the field east of our house yipping and carrying on. They never seem to be diminished.
